Preheat oven to 220°C. In a large bowl, combine the self-rising flour and milk (or chosen liquid) until a soft dough forms.

Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently pat it out to a round approximately 2.5 cm thick. Using a biscuit cutter or drinking glass, cut out rounds.

Arrange the cut dough rounds on a baking sheet. Bake for 12–15 minutes, until the tops are golden and biscuits have risen.

Optionally brush the tops with melted butter. Serve warm, accompanied by jam, gravy, or fried chicken as desired.
