Preheat a skillet over medium to medium-low heat until evenly warm.

Spread a thin, even layer of softened butter on one side of each bread slice.

Place one bread slice in the skillet, buttered-side down, and spread half the cream cheese over the exposed side.

Layer the pickle slices and prosciutto evenly atop the cream cheese.

Spread the remaining cream cheese on the unbuttered side of the second bread slice. Position this slice on top, buttered-side facing upward.

Cook for 5 to 7 minutes, pressing gently, until the underside is golden brown. Flip and grill the opposite side for another 5 to 7 minutes until crisp and heated through.

Transfer to a cutting board, slice in half if desired, and serve immediately while warm.
