                Place sweet potato chunks in a large pot and cover with water. Add a generous pinch of salt. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and cook for 15 to 20 minutes, until fork-tender.

                Drain the sweet potatoes thoroughly, then return them to the pot or transfer to a mixing bowl.

                Add butter, honey, salt, and optional cinnamon or nutmeg. Mash until completely smooth and creamy.

                Taste and adjust seasoning and sweetness as desired. Serve warm, topped with an additional pat of butter if preferred.
