Ham and Cheese Butter Biscuits (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Dry Ingredients

01 - 310 grams all-purpose flour
02 - 13 grams granulated sugar
03 - 13 grams aluminum-free baking powder

→ Wet Ingredients

04 - 415 milliliters buttermilk, plus more as needed

→ Mix-ins

05 - 250 grams small diced ham
06 - 170 grams shredded cheddar cheese

→ Topping

07 - 115 grams salted butter

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat oven to 230°C. Coat a 23×23-centimeter oven-safe glass or ceramic baking dish with nonstick cooking spray containing flour.
02 - In a medium bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and baking powder until evenly blended.
03 - Pour buttermilk into the dry mixture and stir until a thick, sticky batter forms. If the mixture appears dry, incorporate additional buttermilk in small increments.
04 - Gently fold diced ham and shredded cheddar cheese into the batter until well distributed.
05 - Melt salted butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Pour the melted butter into the prepared baking dish, coating the bottom evenly.
06 - Spread the dough evenly over the melted butter in the baking dish, using hands sprayed with nonstick spray for ease.
07 - Using a knife, cut the dough into 9 squares to assist with portioning after baking.
08 - Place the dish on the middle oven rack and bake for 25–30 minutes, rotating halfway through for even browning. Shield with foil if top browns too quickly.
09 - Biscuits are ready when golden on top and spring back when gently pressed. A toothpick inserted in the center should come out clean. Cut along scored lines and serve warm.

# Notes:

01 - For best results, handle the sticky dough gently and avoid over-mixing for tender biscuits.
