Frozen Bread Dough Beef Cabbage (Print Version)

Soft bread wraps a hearty beef, onion, and cabbage filling for a golden, savory handheld bake.

# Ingredients:

→ Dough

01 - 16 frozen unbaked dinner rolls

→ Filling

02 - 1 pound lean ground beef
03 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
04 - 1 small yellow onion, finely chopped
05 - 2 cups finely chopped cabbage
06 - Salt, to taste
07 - Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
08 - 1 to 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

→ Egg Wash

09 - 1 large egg
10 - 1 tablespoon milk

# Steps:

01 - Arrange frozen roll dough several inches apart on parchment-lined baking sheets. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise at room temperature until doubled in size, about 3 to 5 hours.
02 - In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. When halfway cooked, add butter, onion, and cabbage. Sauté until beef is cooked through and vegetables are softened. Season with salt and pepper. Sprinkle in flour as needed to absorb excess moisture. Allow mixture to cool before using.
03 - Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly dust a work surface with flour. Flatten each risen dough ball by hand into a round about 4 inches in diameter. Place a spoonful of cooled filling in the center. Gather up edges and pinch to seal. Place seam side down on baking sheet. Repeat with remaining dough and filling. Cover and let rest for 30 minutes.
04 - In a small bowl, whisk together egg and milk. Brush the tops of each assembled roll with egg wash. Bake in preheated oven for 18 to 20 minutes, rotating baking sheet halfway, until golden brown.

# Notes:

01 - Ensure filling is fully cooled before assembling to prevent the dough from becoming soggy.
