# Ingredients:

→ Dough

01 - 2 cups all-purpose flour
02 - 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
03 - 1 teaspoon salt
04 - 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

→ Filling

05 - 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
06 - 1/4 cup powdered sugar
07 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

→ Egg Wash

08 - 1 large egg, beaten
09 - 1 tablespoon milk

→ Dough Assembly

10 - 1/4 cup cold water

# Steps:

01 - Whisk flour, granulated sugar, and salt together in a large bowl. Add cold, cubed butter and blend with a pastry cutter or fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
02 - Gradually add 1/4 cup cold water and mix until the dough forms. Shape into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
03 - Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. On a floured countertop, roll the dough into a 1/4-inch thick rectangle. Cut into approximately 4-inch by 4-inch squares.
04 - Combine softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract in a medium bowl. Stir until smooth and well blended.
05 - Place 1 tablespoon of cream cheese filling in the center of each dough square. Fold the corners inward to meet at the center, pinching to seal the seam.
06 - In a small bowl, whisk the beaten egg with milk. Brush this wash over each shaped Danish.
07 - Arrange on prepared baking sheet and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

# Notes:

01 - Chill the dough thoroughly for easier rolling and improved flakiness.
