01 - 6 slices white sandwich bread
02 - 1 cup finely shredded cheddar cheese
03 - 6 thin slices deli ham (optional)
04 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

# Steps:

01 - Trim the crusts from each bread slice and use a rolling pin to flatten them evenly.
02 - Sprinkle an even layer of shredded cheese over each flattened bread slice. Place a thin slice of deli ham on top if desired.
03 - Roll up each bread slice tightly. Secure ends with toothpicks if necessary to maintain shape.
04 - Heat a skillet over medium to medium-low heat. Add butter and let it melt, spreading to coat the surface.
05 - Arrange the roll-ups seam side down in the skillet. Cook for 5 to 8 minutes, turning with tongs until all sides are evenly golden and cheese is melted.
06 - Transfer roll-ups to a plate. Remove toothpicks and cut in half if preferred. Serve immediately.
