Toasted Italian Sandwich Melt (Print Version)

Melted cheese, deli meats, and toasted Italian bread make this savory sandwich a flavorful bite.

# Ingredients:

→ Bread

01 - 2 slices Italian bread

→ Dairy

02 - 2 tablespoons butter
03 - 2 slices mozzarella cheese
04 - 2 slices provolone cheese

→ Meat

05 - 4 slices deli ham
06 - 4 slices salami

→ Condiments

07 - 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
08 - 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

→ Herbs & Spices

09 - 1 teaspoon dried oregano
10 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder

# Steps:

01 - Spread 1 tablespoon of butter evenly on one side of each slice of Italian bread.
02 - Preheat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat.
03 - Place one slice of the buttered bread, butter side down, into the preheated skillet. Add 1 slice of mozzarella cheese, then place 1 slice of provolone cheese over the mozzarella.
04 - Layer 2 slices of deli ham and then 2 slices of salami over the cheese.
05 - Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on one side and 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard on the other side of the remaining slice of bread.
06 - Place the prepared slice of bread, mayonnaise side down, onto the stack of ingredients in the skillet. Press down lightly with a spatula.
07 - Cook for 3 to 4 minutes or until the bottom slice of bread is golden brown and crisp.
08 - Using a spatula, carefully flip the sandwich. Continue cooking for another 3 to 4 minutes until the other side is golden and the cheese has melted.
09 - Transfer the toasted sandwich to a cutting board. Sprinkle the top with 1 teaspoon of dried oregano and 1 teaspoon of garlic powder. Slice in half diagonally and serve hot.

# Notes:

01 - For even browning, press the sandwich gently while toasting and adjust the heat if needed to avoid burning.
