One-Pan Tangy Honey BBQ Chicken (Print Version)

Honey BBQ chicken and penne blend in one skillet for a saucy, savory all-in-one weeknight dinner.

# Ingredients:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
02 - 8 ounces uncooked penne pasta
03 - 1 cup honey barbecue sauce
04 - 2 tablespoons olive oil
05 - 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken broth
06 - 1 tablespoon soy sauce
07 - 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
08 - 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
09 - Salt, to taste
10 - Pepper, to taste

→ Optional Garnishes

11 - Chopped fresh parsley
12 - Crushed red pepper flakes
13 - Shredded cheddar cheese
14 - Shredded mozzarella cheese

# Steps:

01 - Heat olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken, season with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder. Sear until chicken is golden brown and fully cooked. Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.
02 - Pour chicken broth into the skillet and deglaze by scraping up any browned bits from the bottom.
03 - Stir in honey barbecue sauce and soy sauce. Allow mixture to simmer for 2 to 3 minutes.
04 - Add uncooked penne pasta and enough water (about 1 to 1½ cups) to just cover the pasta. Cover and simmer for 12 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender and most of the liquid has been absorbed.
05 - Return cooked chicken to the skillet. Stir well and simmer for an additional 2 to 3 minutes to blend the flavors.
06 - Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Scatter chopped parsley, a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes, and shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese over the top, if desired, before serving.

# Notes:

01 - For a smokier flavor, increase the smoked paprika. Adjust the level of honey barbecue sauce for preferred sweetness.
