# Ingredients:

→ Main

01 - 1 tablespoon olive oil
02 - 2 cups thinly sliced onions
03 - 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
04 - 1.5 pounds lean ground beef
05 - 1 tablespoon ketchup
06 - Worcestershire sauce, to taste
07 - 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
08 - Kosher salt, to taste
09 - Black pepper, to taste
10 - 8 slices rye bread
11 - 8 ounces Swiss cheese, sliced

# Steps:

01 - In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-low heat. Add sliced onions, season with kosher salt and black pepper, and cook for 20 to 25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden and soft. Set aside.
02 - In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, kosher salt, and black pepper. Gently mix and form into four patties slightly larger than the rye bread slices.
03 - Heat 2 tablespoons unsalted butter in a cast-iron skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for 4 to 5 minutes per side until browned and cooked through. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
04 - Wipe the skillet clean and melt the remaining unsalted butter. Place 4 slices of rye bread on a work surface. Layer each with a cooked beef patty, caramelized onions, and 2 slices of Swiss cheese. Top each stack with another slice of rye bread.
05 - Place assembled sandwiches in the skillet over medium heat. Grill for 2 to 4 minutes per side, pressing gently, until the bread is crisp and the cheese has melted.

# Notes:

01 - Thinly slicing the onions ensures even caramelization and flavor.
02 - Press sandwiches gently with a spatula while grilling to promote golden, crisp crusts.
