Smashburger Grilled Cheese Sauce (Print Version)

Beef patties, special sauce, pickles, and two kinds of cheese inside golden toasted bread.

# Ingredients:

→ Beef and Cheese

01 - 1 pound ground beef
02 - 8 slices American cheese
03 - 2 cups shredded Havarti cheese

→ Bread and Condiments

04 - 8 slices hearty white bread
05 - 1/2 cup Smashburger sauce
06 - 1/3 cup dill pickle chips

→ Vegetables and Seasonings

07 - 1 small onion, thinly sliced
08 - Kosher salt, to taste
09 - Fresh cracked black pepper, to taste

→ Other

10 - 2 tablespoons salted butter

# Steps:

01 - Divide ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape each into a ball.
02 - Heat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over high heat until extremely hot.
03 - Place beef balls on the hot surface. Season with kosher salt, black pepper, 1 teaspoon Smashburger sauce, and a portion of sliced onions.
04 - Cover each portion with parchment paper and use a spatula to press firmly, forming thin patties.
05 - Cook patties until the bottom is well-browned and caramelized. Flip each patty.
06 - Top each patty with 2 slices of American cheese, allowing it to melt as the beef cooks through.
07 - Lower heat to low. Spread 1 tablespoon Smashburger sauce on 4 slices of bread.
08 - Melt 1 tablespoon of butter over a clean section of the skillet. Place the sauced slices bread-side down onto the skillet.
09 - Set each cheeseburger patty on a slice of bread, cheese side down. Top with dill pickle chips and distribute shredded Havarti cheese evenly among the sandwiches.
10 - Place remaining bread slices over the top. Spread the remaining butter on the tops of the sandwiches.
11 - Cook until the bottoms are golden brown and the Havarti cheese starts melting. Carefully flip and grill the other sides until golden and cheese is completely melted.
12 - Remove from heat and let sandwiches rest for 1 minute before serving. Present warm with additional Smashburger sauce for dipping.
