Slow Cooker French Dip Sandwich (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 3 lb beef chuck roast, trimmed of excess fat
02 - 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
03 - 6 French rolls or hoagie buns
04 - 12 slices provolone cheese

→ Flavorful Sauce Mix

05 - 1/3 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
06 - 1 cup regular Coke (not diet)
07 - 2 cans (10.5 oz each) beef consommé
08 - 1/4 cup dried minced onions
09 - 1 tablespoon beef bouillon
10 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
11 - 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
12 - 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
13 - 1/2 teaspoon salt
14 - 1/4 teaspoon pepper
15 - 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
16 - 1 bay leaf

# Instructions:

01 - Get your skillet nice and hot over medium-high heat with some vegetable oil. Grab your beef roast with tongs or two forks and give it a good sear on all sides until it's got a beautiful brown crust. Once it's looking good, pop it into your slow cooker.
02 - Pour all those amazing sauce ingredients right over your beef in the slow cooker - we're talking the Coke, soy sauce, beef consommé, and all those gorgeous seasonings. This is what's going to make your meat incredibly tender and flavorful.
03 - Let it cook on LOW for 4 hours, then pull out that beautiful roast and slice it thinly across the grain. Put all that sliced meat back in the slow cooker for another 1-2 hours to soak up even more flavor.
04 - When you're ready to serve, strain the fat from your au jus. Split those rolls, load them up with the tender beef, and top each with 2 slices of provolone. Pop them in a 350°F oven until that cheese gets all melty and delicious. Serve each sandwich with a side of that liquid gold au jus for dipping.

# Notes:

01 - You can use beef broth if you can't find beef consommé - just ask someone at the store to help you locate it first
02 - For oven cooking: Cover and bake at 425°F for 30 minutes, then 300°F for 3-4 hours. Rest meat 15 minutes before slicing, then return to 200°F oven with juices for at least 15 minutes
03 - 3 pounds of beef makes approximately 6 hearty sandwiches
