Melt the butter and set aside to cool. Spray a 4.75 x 12.25 inch Rehrucken pan liberally with baking spray. Sprinkle the sliced almonds evenly across the bottom of the pan.

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

In a large bowl, whisk the sugar, egg, almond extract, and cream until well combined. Add the dry ingredients and whisk until no streaks of flour remain.

Pour in the melted butter and whisk until the batter is smooth and fully incorporated.

Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40-50 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the center is set.

Allow cake to cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes, then carefully invert onto a wire cooling rack.
