Popeys Cajun Rice Copycat (Print Version)

Cajun-style rice dish simmered with ground beef, peppers, and bold Louisiana-inspired flavors.

# Ingredients:

→ Main Components

01 - 2 cups long grain white rice
02 - 1 pound ground beef
03 - 1/2 cup diced green bell pepper
04 - 1/2 cup diced yellow onion
05 - 4 cups beef broth

→ Seasonings

06 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
07 - 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
08 - 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
09 - 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
10 - 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

# Steps:

01 - In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef together with diced onion and bell pepper until the beef is fully browned and the vegetables are softened. Drain excess fat if needed.
02 - Add garlic powder, Cajun seasoning, cayenne pepper, celery seed, and black pepper to the skillet. Stir thoroughly to evenly distribute the spices among the mixture.
03 - Pour beef broth into the skillet and increase the heat to bring the liquid to a boil.
04 - Stir in the long grain rice. Reduce heat to low, cover tightly with a lid, and simmer for 20 to 25 minutes until rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed.
05 - Remove from heat. Fluff rice with a fork and taste. Adjust seasoning if necessary before serving.

# Notes:

01 - For added authenticity, substitute a portion of the ground beef with finely chopped chicken gizzards as traditionally used in Cajun-style rice.
