Retain about 1 tablespoon of rendered steak juices in the skillet. Add sliced bell pepper and onion. Sauté for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are softened yet still retain a slight crunch. Remove from heat and set aside with the steak.

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Arrange frozen waffle fries in a single layer either in the skillet or on a baking sheet. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes, flipping half-way through baking to ensure even crisping.

Once the fries are golden, remove from the oven. Lay 4 slices of white American cheese evenly over the fries. Scatter the cooked steak, bell pepper, and onion over the cheese layer. Top with another 4 to 6 slices of American cheese, covering the toppings as much as possible.

Return the skillet or baking sheet to the oven. Bake an additional 8 to 10 minutes, or until cheese is fully melted and bubbling. For added crispness, broil for 1 to 2 minutes, monitoring closely to prevent burning.

Allow to cool for 1 to 2 minutes before serving. Present directly from the skillet or transfer to a serving platter. Garnish with fresh parsley, sliced green onions, or jalapeño if desired.
