Pancake Sausage Casserole Bake (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Base

01 - 1 pound breakfast sausage (pork, turkey, or chicken)
02 - 2 cups pancake mix
03 - 1¼ cups milk
04 - 1 large egg
05 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
06 - 2 tablespoons melted butter

→ Optional Flavor Additions

07 - 1 tablespoon maple syrup (optional)
08 - ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)

→ Topping

09 - 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

→ For Baking Dish

10 - Cooking spray or additional butter for greasing

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat oven to 190°C. Grease a 23×33 cm baking dish with cooking spray or butter.
02 - Brown sausage in a skillet over medium heat until thoroughly cooked. Drain excess fat and set aside.
03 - In a large bowl, combine pancake mix, milk, egg, vanilla extract, melted butter, maple syrup, and cinnamon, mixing just until incorporated. Do not overmix.
04 - Pour half the batter into the prepared dish. Evenly scatter the cooked sausage over the batter.
05 - Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over sausage if using. Pour remaining batter over the top.
06 - Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.
07 - Allow casserole to cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

# Notes:

01 - For a richer casserole, use whole milk and full-fat cheddar cheese. To lighten, opt for turkey or chicken sausage, low-fat cheese, and reduced-fat pancake mix.
02 - Ingredients such as maple syrup and cinnamon are optional and can be adjusted to taste.
