Mozzarella Carrozza Fried Sandwiches (Print Version)

Crispy fried bread holds gooey mozzarella for a warm, melty Italian-style sandwich treat.

# Ingredients:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 4 slices white bread, crusts removed
02 - 1 ball mozzarella cheese (4.2 oz)

→ Egg Wash and Coating

03 - 2 large eggs
04 - 2/3 cup whole milk
05 - 5 tablespoons all-purpose flour
06 - Sunflower oil, for frying
07 - Salt, to season
08 - Black pepper, to season

# Steps:

01 - Combine eggs, milk, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl and whisk until well blended.
02 - Spread flour evenly on a plate and set aside alongside the egg mixture.
03 - Cut the mozzarella into medium-thick slices. Evenly distribute the mozzarella between two slices of prepared bread, ensuring the cheese does not extend past the edges.
04 - Top each mozzarella-layered slice with the remaining bread and press gently. Slice each assembled sandwich diagonally to create triangles.
05 - Pour sunflower oil into a frying pan to a depth of 1/4 inch and heat over medium heat.
06 - Coat each sandwich triangle thoroughly in flour, ensuring all edges are covered. Next, dip each piece into the egg mixture, again coating all surfaces.
07 - Place the coated triangles carefully into the hot oil and fry in batches, turning as needed, until each side is golden brown and the exterior is crisp, about 2–3 minutes per side.

# Notes:

01 - Press the edges of the sandwiches firmly before frying to prevent cheese from leaking during cooking.
