Stacked ciabatta, beef, sausage, lasagna noodles and cheese for a hearty Italian-inspired bite.

# Ingredients:

→ Bread

01 - 1 ciabatta bun
02 - 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
03 - 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
04 - 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

→ Sauce

05 - 2 tablespoons olive oil
06 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
07 - Black pepper, to taste
08 - 14 ounces canned crushed tomatoes
09 - Salt, to taste
10 - Red pepper flakes, to taste
11 - Oregano, to taste

→ Other Components

12 - 1/3 pound ground beef, divided
13 - 1/4 pound hot Italian sausage
14 - 1 lasagna noodle, boiled and drained
15 - 3 slices mozzarella cheese
16 - 1 tablespoon ricotta cheese

# Steps:

01 - Slice the ciabatta bun horizontally. Spread butter on the cut sides, then sprinkle with garlic powder and Italian seasoning. Place under a broiler set to high for several minutes, toasting until golden brown.
02 - Warm olive oil in a saucepan over low heat. Add minced garlic and sauté gently for approximately 3 minutes without allowing it to brown. Stir in black pepper and crushed tomatoes, season to taste with salt, red pepper flakes, and oregano. Simmer for 10 minutes. Slice the cooked lasagna noodle into three pieces and add to the sauce, warming briefly before removing from heat.
03 - Divide ground beef and Italian sausage into portions and form into balls. Heat a cast iron pan over high heat and add a small amount of high smoke point oil. Place the meatballs into the pan, cook for 1 minute, flip, and smash flat. Cook for another minute, flip again, and top each patty with a slice of mozzarella cheese.
04 - Place the bottom half of the toasted bun on a serving surface. Layer with one burger patty, a slice of lasagna noodle, and approximately one tablespoon ricotta cheese. Add the sausage patty, a second lasagna noodle piece, and another tablespoon ricotta. Top with the remaining burger patty, final lasagna noodle, and a final tablespoon of ricotta cheese. Finish with the top half of the bun. Allow to cool for several minutes before slicing and serving.

# Notes:

01 - Allowing the burger to rest before serving ensures the layers set and the stack maintains its structure.
