How to Make Matcha Tea (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Matcha Base

01 - ¼ teaspoon high-quality matcha powder
02 - 2 ounces hot water (about 175°F)

→ Additions

03 - 6 ounces additional hot water or steamed milk (almond, oat, coconut, dairy, etc.)
04 - Maple syrup or honey to taste (optional)

# Instructions:

01 - Sift the matcha powder into a small bowl or mug using a fine mesh strainer. This important step removes any clumps for a smoother drink.
02 - Pour in 2 ounces of hot water (ideally around 175°F). Using a bamboo whisk or small regular whisk, briskly whisk from side to side until the matcha is fully dissolved and a nice foamy layer forms on top.
03 - Add the remaining 6 ounces of hot water or your preferred steamed milk. Whisk again until frothy. If desired, sweeten to taste with a little maple syrup or honey, especially if your matcha is on the bitter side.

# Notes:

01 - Different matcha brands vary in bitterness - if you're new to matcha or find yours too bitter, don't hesitate to add a touch of sweetener.
02 - The ideal water temperature is around 175°F (79°C) - boiling water can make matcha taste more bitter.
03 - The traditional side-to-side whisking motion creates the best foam and properly disperses the matcha.
