Easy French Dip Sliders Recipe (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Base Ingredients

01 - 12 sweet rolls
02 - 14 ounces sliced deli roast beef
03 - 10 slices provolone cheese

→ Caramelized Onions

04 - 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
05 - 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
06 - 2 teaspoons fresh thyme, minced
07 - 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
08 - 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

→ Butter Topping & Au Jus

09 - 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
10 - 1 1/2 tablespoons dried onion soup mix
11 - 1 packet au jus gravy mix
12 - 3 cups water
13 - Fresh chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

# Instructions:

01 - In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the onions and coat in the butter. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 12-15 minutes until the onions are soft and browned but not burnt.
02 - Add the thyme, salt, and pepper, stir to combine, take off the heat, and set aside.
03 - Preheat the oven to 350°F. Take the rolls out of the package, leaving them intact. Slice the rolls across so you have the tops and bottom separated. Place the bottom, cut side up into an 11x7 baking dish.
04 - Top with half of the cheese. Add the roast beef. Top with the onions, spreading them out. Add the remaining cheese, then add the tops of the rolls on top.
05 - In a small bowl stir together the melted butter and onion soup mix. Brush this mixture on top of the rolls to ensure even distribution.
06 - Cover loosely with foil, ensuring it's not touching the tops of the rolls and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 5 minutes to brown the rolls.
07 - While the rolls are baking, prepare the au jus per the package directions with the water. Serve the rolls with an optional garnish of parsley and au jus on the side for dipping.

# Notes:

01 - Dried herbs can be used in place of fresh, just cut the amount in half
02 - You can use any slider buns you'd like but sweet rolls are our favorite
03 - Provolone and mozzarella are our cheeses of choice for this recipe
04 - The au jus is optional, but adds more flavor when consuming
05 - These can be frozen
