Fresh Apple and Tuna Salad (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Fresh Produce

01 - 1 medium Granny Smith apple, cored and diced
02 - 1 medium onion, finely diced (about 1 1/3 cups)
03 - 1 ripe avocado, pitted and diced

→ Protein & Nuts

04 - 4 cans (5 oz each) tuna in water, well drained
05 - 1/2 cup sliced almonds or chopped walnuts

→ Dressing

06 - 3/4 cup real mayonnaise, or to taste
07 - 1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice, or to taste
08 - 1/8 teaspoon black pepper, or to taste

# Instructions:

01 - Toss your nuts in a dry skillet and toast them over medium heat until they're golden brown and smell toasty. Set aside to cool down a bit.
02 - Drain those tuna cans really well - press down on the lid to squeeze out every bit of water you can. This keeps your salad from getting soggy.
03 - In a big bowl, toss together your drained tuna, diced apple, onion, and avocado. Add the mayo, a splash of lemon juice, and black pepper to taste. Sprinkle in your cooled toasted nuts and give everything a gentle mix.

# Notes:

01 - Make sure to drain the tuna really well - this is key for a non-watery salad
02 - Best eaten within 24 hours as the avocado will start to brown
