Creamy Baked Gnocchi Mozzarella (Print Version)

Soft gnocchi baked in creamy marinara, bubbling mozzarella, and parmesan, topped with fresh basil.

# Ingredients:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 2 pounds potato gnocchi
02 - 16 ounces marinara sauce
03 - 2 garlic cloves, minced
04 - 1/2 cup baby mozzarella balls or mozzarella pearls
05 - 1/3 cup heavy cream
06 - 1/2 cup reserved pasta cooking water
07 - 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
08 - 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
09 - 1 tablespoon olive oil or unsalted butter
10 - Kosher salt, to taste

# Steps:

01 - Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the gnocchi and cook for 3 to 4 minutes or until they rise to the surface. Reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water, then drain the gnocchi.
02 - Heat olive oil or butter in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
03 - Add marinara sauce, chopped basil, and grated Parmesan cheese to the skillet. Stir well and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
04 - Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the heavy cream, cooked gnocchi, and reserved pasta water, ensuring the sauce is smooth and gnocchi are well coated.
05 - Scatter the mozzarella balls and extra Parmesan cheese over the surface. Transfer the skillet to the oven and broil on high for 2 to 3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden.
06 - Remove from the oven and serve immediately, garnished with additional fresh basil if desired.

# Notes:

01 - Broil the dish until the cheese starts to brown for optimal texture and flavor.
