Tender apples simmered with cinnamon, brown sugar, and butter for a warm, cozy dish or topping.

# Ingredients:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 6 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
02 - 1/2 cup unsalted butter
03 - 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
04 - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
05 - 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
06 - 1/4 teaspoon salt
07 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
08 - 1 tablespoon lemon juice

# Steps:

01 - Place the peeled, cored, and sliced apples evenly into the slow cooker insert.
02 - In a small saucepan, melt unsalted butter over low heat. Add brown sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and salt. Stir continuously until the mixture is smooth and homogenous.
03 - Evenly pour the spiced butter mixture over the apples in the slow cooker. Gently stir to coat all apple slices.
04 - Incorporate vanilla extract and lemon juice into the apple mixture and stir gently again to distribute.
05 - Cover with the slow cooker lid and cook on the low setting for 4 to 6 hours, stirring occasionally until the apples are tender but still hold their shape.
06 - Serve the warm apples as a dessert or side dish as desired.

# Notes:

01 - Select firm apple varieties, such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji, to maintain texture during slow cooking.
02 - Enhance depth of flavor with a pinch of ground cloves or allspice if desired.
03 - For a thicker sauce, remove the apples at the end of cooking and simmer the remaining liquid on the stovetop until reduced, then pour back over the apples.
04 - Pairs excellently as a side with pork or poultry, or as a topping for pancakes, waffles, or ice cream.
05 - Refrigerate leftovers for up to 4 days or freeze for a maximum of 2 months.
