Chocolate Chip Cherry Bars (Print Version)

Buttery bars with chocolate chips and cherries for a delicious, chewy treat everyone will love.

# Ingredients:

→ Wet Ingredients

01 - 0.5 cup unsalted butter, melted
02 - 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
03 - 1 large egg
04 - 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

→ Dry Ingredients

05 - 1 cup all-purpose flour
06 - 0.25 teaspoon salt

→ Mix-ins

07 - 0.75 to 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
08 - 1 cup cherries, fresh or frozen, left whole

# Steps:

01 - Preheat oven to 350°F. Line an 8 x 8 inch baking pan with aluminum foil and lightly coat with nonstick spray. Set aside.
02 - Place unsalted butter in a medium microwave-safe bowl and heat until melted, about 60 seconds.
03 - Stir packed light brown sugar into the melted butter until blended. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
04 - Fold in all-purpose flour and salt, stirring just until combined to avoid over-mixing.
05 - Gently fold in semi-sweet chocolate chips and whole cherries. Transfer the batter to the prepared pan. Smooth the surface lightly.
06 - Bake 27 to 32 minutes, or until edges slightly pull away from the pan and the center is set.
07 - Allow to cool in the pan for at least 1 hour before slicing into bars and serving.

01 - Bars can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature or refrigerated for up to a week, or frozen for three months.
