Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium heat and add the butter. Once melted, add the sliced smoked sausage and sauté for 3 to 4 minutes, until browned.

Remove the seasoning packets from the Rice-A-Roni boxes and set aside. Add the rice mixture from both boxes to the skillet and cook for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring to coat the rice in the butter and sausage drippings.

Pour in 5 cups of water to the skillet. Stir in the reserved seasoning packets from the Rice-A-Roni and mix thoroughly. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.

While the rice and sausage cook, steam the broccoli florets until tender, then chop them into bite-sized pieces.

Stir the chopped steamed broccoli into the skillet. Add the shredded sharp cheddar cheese and mix until fully combined and the cheese is melted. Serve immediately.
