                Place softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, chopped dill pickles, and ranch dressing mix in a medium mixing bowl. Add garlic powder, onion powder, chives, green onions, or cayenne pepper if desired. Mix thoroughly using a spatula or hand mixer until the mixture is smooth and evenly blended.

                Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of the mixture and gently roll each into a ball with your hands. Ensure each ball is compact and holds its shape.

                If using bacon bits, spread them in a shallow dish. Roll each cheese ball in the bacon until fully coated on all sides.

                Arrange the coated balls on a tray or in an airtight container. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm before serving. Preparation can be done a day ahead to intensify flavors.

                Present chilled or at room temperature on a serving platter. Garnish with extra pickle slices, chives, or a light drizzle of ranch dressing if desired. Toothpicks are recommended for easy serving.
