01 -
Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it. Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface. Cut the dough into 4 long strips, each approximately 1.5 to 2 inches wide.
02 -
Roll each strip lightly to elongate and smooth. Curve the top of each strip to shape a candy cane hook. Gently transfer the shaped dough strips to the prepared baking sheet.
03 -
Arrange mozzarella strips or sprinkle shredded mozzarella along the length of each dough strip. Press gently to help the cheese adhere to the dough.
04 -
Spoon or pipe marinara sauce diagonally across the dough, alternating with the cheese to create a candy cane stripe effect. Allow some sauce to gently overflow the edges.
05 -
Brush the exposed dough with olive oil, or use an egg wash for a glossy finish if preferred. Sprinkle Italian seasoning and, if desired, fresh thyme over the surface. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
06 -
Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes until the dough is golden, the cheese is melted and bubbling, and the stripes are well-defined. Let cool for several minutes before serving.
