Fried Cabbage with Seafood Trio (Print Version)

A hearty skillet meal combining tender cabbage, succulent shrimp, smoky sausage and crispy bacon in savory seasonings.

# Ingredients:

→ Proteins

01 - 5 slices bacon, chopped
02 - 10-12 shrimp, tail off & deveined
03 - 1 link kielbasa or smoked sausage, cut into 1/2 inch pieces

→ Vegetables

04 - 3 cups cabbage, cut in thin strips
05 - 1/2 cup yellow onions, chopped
06 - 3 cloves garlic, minced

→ Seasonings & Fats

07 - 1 tbsp olive oil
08 - 2 tbsp butter, divided
09 - 1 tsp seafood seasoning
10 - 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
11 - 1/4 tsp black pepper
12 - 1/4 tsp salt
13 - 1/2 tsp oregano
14 - Pinch of crushed red pepper (optional)
15 - 1 tsp apple cider vinegar

# Steps:

01 - Season shrimp with olive oil and seafood seasoning. Set aside.
02 - Cook chopped bacon in a skillet until crispy. Remove bacon but reserve the rendered fat in the pan.
03 - Add sausage pieces to the skillet with bacon fat and brown on all sides. Remove and set aside.
04 - In the same skillet, cook seasoned shrimp approximately 3 minutes per side until they turn pink and curl into a C shape. Remove and set aside.
05 - Add 1 tablespoon butter to the skillet along with onions, paprika, oregano, salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper. Cook for 5-6 minutes until onions soften. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
06 - Add remaining tablespoon of butter and apple cider vinegar to the skillet. Once incorporated, add cabbage strips and toss thoroughly to coat with seasonings.
07 - Cook cabbage for approximately 12 minutes until tender. Stir in the reserved bacon, shrimp, and sausage to reheat. Serve immediately.
