In a small bowl, combine the strawberries, balsamic vinegar, and sugar. Mix them together thoroughly.

Set the mixture aside for about 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the strawberries to release their juices. This step can also be done well in advance and stored in an airtight container in the fridge.

Toast your bread slices in a toaster or fry them in a pan until they're crispy and golden brown.

Spread one to two tablespoons of cream cheese evenly over each slice of toast.

Give the strawberry mixture a quick stir - it should be saucy by now. Spoon some of the strawberries and their juice over each cream cheese-covered toast.

Top each toast with a few fresh basil leaves and enjoy right away while the toast is still warm and crispy!
